The Summer English Program at Plattsburgh (SEPP) is designed to help non-native English speakers improve their language skills for academic and professional work. In this three-week course, we offer non-credit instruction in English as a second language (ESL), along with academic research skills, social and cultural orientation, and preparation for living and studying in a United States university. Participants will study and stay on the campus of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, located in northern New York State on the shores of Lake Champlain.

The SUNY SEPP program is your best choice!

  • SEPP students receive approximately 18 hours of intensive classroom instruction per week from experienced ESL instructors.
  • SEPP enrolls a maximum of 20 students, which allows for individual attention to each student's needs.
  • SEPP program assistants serve as tutors and conversation partners.
  • SEPP is part of a 4-year university. You will have the opportunity to experience campus life with access to the library, computer lab, college center, gym, housing, dining, and recreational activities.
  • SEPP organizes trips to off-campus destinations to allow students to use their language skills and enjoy the food, music, cultural opportunities and beauty of the region.

The university is located in the center of Plattsburgh, a small, friendly city with lots to enjoy in the summer. Students can walk or ride bicycles along the Saranac River to Lake Champlain. Restaurants and shops are a short walk from the campus. The residence hall has kitchens, lounge areas with televisions, a game room, a computer room and laundry facilities.
